What Dr. Dold treats

Hip arthroscopy and anterior hip replacement

Dr. Dold performs hip arthroscopy for labral tears and hip impingement (FAI). In a large randomized trial, hip arthroscopy improved hip-related quality of life more than a structured physical therapy program at one year.1 For advanced hip arthritis he performs direct anterior hip replacement; in a randomized trial, patients stopped using walking aids sooner after the anterior approach than after a posterior approach,2 and registry data suggest that most hip replacements last 15 to 25 years.3

Achilles tendon ruptures

Dr. Dold is the author of a review of current treatment for acute Achilles tendon ruptures in the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons,4 and he offers both surgical and non-surgical treatment. See Achilles tendon rupture.
